This webinar examines Norma Dunning’s lived history as an Inuk who was born, raised and continues to live south of sixty. It takes into account the many assimilative practices that Inuit continue to face and the expectations of mainstream as to what an Inuk person can and should be.

Pathways to Indigenous health is a series of webinars hosted by the NCCIH. Between September 2023 and April 2024, this series of webinars will explore a variety of topics related to the health and well-being of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. The series intends to strengthen the links between knowledge, policy, and practice, by supporting the educational journeys of healthcare workers, public health audiences, and beyond.
Presenter
Dr. Norma Dunning is a Padlei Inuk writer, professor, and grandmother. She has published five books and has received many literary awards. Her books have been translated into several languages. She teaches Indigenous Health Studies at the First Nations University of Canada and lives in Regina, SK.
